LOS ANGELES—One of four suspects in the burglaries of a shoe store in the Canoga Park neighborhood and a nearby business in Woodland Hills early before sunrise Wednesday was arrested.

Officers were sent to the 7200 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, near Sherman Way, at about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday regarding a burglary in progress at a shoe store, where they discovered a white van parked outside, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Four suspects fled without complying with officers’ orders.

A brief pursuit ensued before the suspects exited the vehicle and ran into an alley toward the rear of 7200 Owensmouth Avenue, about two-tenths of a mile away.

The responding officers began a foot pursuit and managed to locate the driver, later identified as Terry Sutton, 36, and take him into custody.

Police established a perimeter to locate the other suspects, but they ran away in an unknown direction.

“During the on-scene investigation, it was discovered that the same suspects had also burglarized one additional location nearby before burglarizing the shoe store,” police said in a statement.

Detectives responded to the second location in the 6400 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, near Lassen Street, and, with video evidence, confirmed that the same vehicle was used in both burglaries.

All the stolen items recovered by investigators have been returned to the business owners, police said.

Sutton was booked on suspicion of commercial burglary and held without bail.
