Machete-Wielding Robbers Hack Four After Raid on Kassanda Fuel Station

Police in Kassanda District are searching for unidentified machete-wielding attackers who raided a fuel station, injuring two pump attendants and two private security guards during a night assault.

The incident occurred at 2 a.m. on Sunday at Staxbex Petrol Station in Luswa Village along the Mityana-Mubende–Fort Portal highway. The victims, identified as Godfrey Ssenyondo, Wafula Magola, Yusuf Okiror, and Nafuta Emakol, sustained multiple deep cuts to their heads and hands and are receiving treatment at St. Mary’s Health Centre in Mityana District.

The attackers, believed to be a group of five, tied the victims with ropes and stole mobile phones, the CCTV camera system, a TV set, and cash amounting to six million shillings from the station’s safe. The victims were found lying in a pool of blood, and their condition is critical.

Residents in the area attribute the attack to prolonged power outages caused by theft of electricity transmission cables. The lack of lighting in the village may have provided an opportunity for the attackers to carry out their crime undetected. Residents have called for the swift restoration of electricity and increased security patrols.

A police sniffer dog led investigators to a home about five kilometers from the crime scene, resulting in the arrest of a female resident to assist with the investigation. Authorities have assured the public that all perpetrators will be apprehended and prosecuted.
