Witchdoctor Jailed 8 Years for Possessing Human Body Parts

A witchdoctor in Kamuli District has been handed an eight-year prison sentence for being in possession of human bones.

The 39-year-old Jjajja Kasimba Yeko, a resident of Bukapere cell, Kasoigo Ward, Northern Division in Kamuli Municipality, was also found guilty of keeping wild animal skins and wild bird heads inside his shrine.

On Monday, Kamuli Chief Magistrate’s Court, presided over by Aisha Nabukera, heard that the convict was arrested on December 5, 2024.

Court issued a deterrent sentence after he pleaded guilty to the offences.

The magistrate sentenced Kasimba to eight years in prison, citing his plea of guilt and emphasizing that the sentence would serve as an example to others.

Prosecution, led by Charles Akol, informed the court that Kasimba was arrested following intelligence reports indicating the presence of illegal items in his shrine.

During a security operation conducted in Bukapere zone, authorities discovered suspicious items inside his shrine.

The operation was led by Ali Mugarura, the head of anti-sacrifice and anti-illegal use of wildlife species at the Uganda Wetlands and Resource Conservation Organization, according to the prosecutor.

Kasimba had been detained at Kamuli Central Police Station to assist with investigations before being produced in Kamuli Chief Magistrate’s Court on December 10, 2024, where he was remanded until December 11, 2024.
