A fatal road accident occurred yesterday morning around 7:00 AM in Kakureiju village, Kanungu District, killing an American tourist and injuring three others. The crash involved a Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number UAM 271U, driven by 33-year-old Alpha Dadaire, a resident of Wakiso District.
The vehicle, carrying American tourists, reportedly lost control after brake failure while navigating a sharp corner on a slope. It rolled multiple times before plunging into Kyeshero Bridge.
The deceased was identified as 40-year-old Shuldman Harrison Evan, a resident of New York, USA. The injured include Zachary Avayou, 39, from Pennsylvania, USA; Jeremy Frederick Wright, 25, from California, USA; and the driver, Alpha Dadaire, 33. All injured individuals were rushed to Bwindi Hospital for treatment, and the body of the deceased was transported to the same facility.
The Toyota Land Cruiser was towed to Kihihi Police Station for inspection as authorities continue investigating the incident. Police reiterated the importance of caution on steep and narrow roads, particularly in areas prone to challenging driving conditions.
