A NIRA official, Taremwa Jassy, 28, has been remanded to Luzira Prison for allegedly obtaining UGX 250,000 from Bamwagala Michael under false pretenses, promising to fast-track his National ID replacement. Arrested in a sting operation by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, Taremwa was arraigned before Buganda Road Court, where he denied the charges.
The arrest of the suspect has been welcomed by Ugandans who took to their different social media platforms to speak on this stating that this is going to help reduce cases of corruption in the country.
In other news, Ugandas Chief of Defence Forces General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has called upon Ugandans to vote for President Yoweri Museveni in 2026 Presidential elections.
Muhoozi who was speaking about the 2026 Presidential elections in Uganda went on to say that he is not going to be in the ballot, he also added that President Yoweri Museveni is going to beat National Unity Platform, President Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine in the Elections because Bobi Wine and his party, are allegedly disorganized.
Bobi Wine on the other hand stated that Ugandans are going to be free once President Yoweri Museveni is kicked out of his seat.
