A domestic dispute in Kisoro District took a tragic turn when a 17-year-old boy allegedly killed his father during an argument over meat.
Authorities in Kisoro are investigating the death of Nsenga John, 64, a resident of Kinanira Cell, Central Ward, Mupaka Town Council, who was reportedly attacked by his son, Ntwari Jay, in a violent family altercation.
The incident occurred on Sunday, February 2, 2025, after Nsenga refused to eat a meal prepared by his wife, insisting on having meat instead. The previous day, he had hosted visitors and bought one and a half kilograms of meat, which had already been consumed. When his wife, Niringiyimana Brandinah, explained that there was none left, Nsenga became furious and threw away the food he had been served.
Tensions escalated when Ntwari returned from a nearby well and found his father in a heated argument. Witnesses say Nsenga, armed with a panga, confronted his son, demanding to know the whereabouts of the meat. In the altercation that followed, Nsenga slashed Ntwari’s ear, prompting the teenager to retaliate by striking his father on the head with a stick before fleeing the scene.
Despite his injuries, Nsenga managed to report his son to the Mupaka Border Police Post for assault. He was issued a medical examination form but collapsed upon arrival at Kinanira Health Center III. He was later transferred to Mutolere Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect was arrested and remains in police custody as investigations continue. Authorities have confirmed that he will face legal proceedings once inquiries are complete.
