Police in Nansana have arrested Jesca Nakayima, a resident of Kyebando, after she allegedly claimed the Holy Spirit instructed her to offer bursaries at Good Samaritan Primary School in Kiboga District.
The school is owned by Pastor Amon Mitala, who has denied any involvement in the matter.
According to Daily Monitor reports, on February 8, 2025, Nakayima convinced parents that God had directed her to take over the school and enroll children to study for free.
Her claims attracted several parents who believed in her divine message, but the situation took a dramatic turn when Pastor Mitala distanced himself from her actions.
Speaking to Monitor, Pr. Mitala said, “Nakayima told parents the Holy Spirit told her to take over my school and bring children to study for free.”
He emphasized that he had no knowledge of her plans and had not authorized any such bursary scheme.
Uganda police moved in swiftly to arrest Nakayima following complaints from the school management.
She is currently being held at Nansana Police Station as investigations continue. The incident has left many parents in shock, with some questioning how far religious claims can be taken before the law steps in.
