A tragic accident occurred on February 26, 2025, at Kibaati trading centre in Mukono District when a speeding cement truck lost control and crashed into a building. The accident, which happened around 9 am near Kampala Cement, has left the community in shock.
The truck, identified by registration numbers UBJ 930T and UAW 217A, veered off the road, hitting a restaurant and several vegetable stalls before crashing into the building. Five people have been confirmed dead, and more could be trapped under the rubble.
Rescue teams are at the scene, and the injured have been taken to Kawolo Hospital in Lugazi and Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala for treatment. Authorities are still confirming the exact number of casualties.
Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
