On the evening of Friday, March 21, 2025, a tragic accident at Biharwe Stadium in Mbarara City, Uganda, left the Metropolitan International University (MIU) community in mourning.
A pickup truck carrying several students participating in the university’s guild president election campaigns overturned, resulting in the heartbreaking death of Desire Kankunda and leaving many others seriously injured.
The students were traveling in a vehicle with unidentified registration plates when the accident occurred, throwing the campaign into chaos and causing severe injuries among the passengers.
The injured students are currently receiving treatment at Mayanja Memorial Hospital as authorities work to determine the cause of the accident. The MIU community and the public remain in shock as they await further details regarding this devastating incident.

Sorry bambe but it’s carelessness of university management that allowed pick ups to cary people and probably our police was on the other side watching.
Ugandans we are disappointed by law enforcement officers.
