Mbale City Northern Division Police are searching for a man suspected of killing a 15-year-old student from Nakaloke SS after allegedly defiling her.
The incident took place on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Grace Guest House in Namakwekwe Ward, Mbale Northern City Division.
Elgon Regional Police reported that the victim was found dead in room 11 of the guest house around 1:00 PM. The suspect, who had checked into the room with the deceased earlier that morning, is believed to have used her phone to contact her relatives.
The victim has been identified as Sumaya Binti Edrisa, a 15-year-old Mugisu student in Senior Two at Nakaloke SS. She was a resident of Dr. Gesa Cell, Namunsi Ward, Northern Division, Mbale City.
Concerns have been raised regarding the handling of the crime scene, as the guest house remained operational and was not properly secured to preserve potential evidence.
Police have launched an investigation and are reviewing statements from the scene. By the time of reporting, the body had been taken to Mbale City mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist in the ongoing inquiries.
