The Uganda Red Cross has confirmed that the heavy morning rain that locked Kampala Metropolitan Area has claimed two lives of juveniles in Mulimira zone in Bukoto a Kampala suburb.
According to Uganda Red Cross Spokesperson Irene Nakasita, the mother of the deceased juveniles left them in the house at night and went for her night duties.
“By the time the heavy down pour started, she had not returned from night duties.
The running heavy waters entered the house and claimed the lives of sleeping Juveniles,” she says.
She added that the community called their response team to rescue the juveniles, but it was too late to save their lives.
She says heavy floods destroyed many houses and properties.
“Our assessment team is on the ground working with the police and the community to ensure the situation stabilizes.
