Dark Secrets Unveiled: New Details on Martha Ahumuza’s Death Emerge

A preliminary police investigation has revealed that Martha Ahumuza Murari, who collapsed at Mezo Noir Bar in Kololo, Kampala, and later died at a hospital, had arranged to meet the key suspect at the bar on the night of the incident.

Detectives retrieved WhatsApp messages from Ahumuza’s phone, uncovering a conversation between her and Edward Mugabo, a cashier at Mezo Noir Bar.

At around 10 p.m., Ahumuza first visited another bar in Kololo, where she stayed for about an hour and a half before heading to Mezo Noir at 11 p.m. to meet Mugabo. It was there that she allegedly consumed poisoned liquor.

Surveillance footage reportedly shows her entering an office within the bar alongside Mugabo. Shortly afterward, Mugabo was seen rushing out in distress and calling for help from his brother, Joseph Kalenzi.

By the time Ahumuza collapsed, all customers had left the bar, leaving only four individuals inside. Investigators suspect that after consuming the drink, she was sexually assaulted before losing consciousness.

She was rushed to Kampala Hospital, where she was pronounced dead the following day. A medical examination confirmed evidence of sexual assault within the estimated timeframe of the incident.

Forensic pathologists conducted a post-mortem, while officials from the Government Analytical Laboratory collected internal organ samples for further testing. Authorities are now awaiting the results.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed that two suspects, Mugabo and his brother Kalenzi, are in custody. Detectives are preparing the case file for submission to the Resident State Attorney for legal review.
