Police in Kanungu District have initiated an investigation into the sudden death of a 22-year-old bar attendant at Lagos Bar and Lodges in Kihihi Sub-County.
The deceased, identified as Evalyne Tukamushaba, was reported dead by Niwamanya Amos, the 25-year-old manager of Lagos Bar and Lodges and a resident of Kashonjwa Village, Rushoroza Parish, Kihihi Sub-County.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday. At around 1:00 AM, Tukamushaba asked her sister, Patience Akampurira, for a room key to rest. When Akampurira went to sleep at around 3:00 AM, she found Tukamushaba lying face down, uncovered, and still fully dressed.
Upon attempting to turn her over, Akampurira noticed foam coming from her mouth and blood from her nose. She immediately alerted the manager, who arranged for a boda boda to take Tukamushaba to Kihihi Health Centre. Unfortunately, she passed away while they were waiting for the doctor.
A team of detectives and Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) visited and documented the scene, and a postmortem examination was conducted before the body was handed over to the family for burial. Authorities have preserved some internal organ samples for further investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
