Woman Cries After Man She Helped Through University Dumps Her

A woman from Arusha, Tanzania, is in deep pain after the father of her children left her. The woman, Getrude Yohana, said she supported the man, Ramadhani, with everything she had, even paying his university fees.

She said she spent about TZS 3.5 million (around USh 4,790,000) on his education. But after he got a job at a bank, he changed and left her.

Getrude said she met Ramadhani in 2009 when he was still in high school. They started dating and moved in together in 2011. At that time, they were both poor. She was doing casual jobs, and he worked as a security guard.

Later, Ramadhani told her he wanted to go to university. Getrude agreed and helped him pay for it.

In his second year, he ran into money problems. So, Getrude took a loan of TZS 600,000 (around USh 821,000) to help him continue with his studies. She also worked extra jobs and gave him money to print his notes until he finished school.

In 2013, Ramadhani got a job, and at first, things were good. But Getrude said he started changing. She said he began disrespecting her, telling her he was tired of living with a class-seven dropout and didn’t want to be with a dark-skinned woman. He also kept his salary a secret from her.

Later, he kicked her and their two children out of the house. This led to a long court case. Even after the court ordered him to take care of his children, Getrude said he stopped sending support. He even accused her of stealing things from the house.

Getrude said she went to the children’s office to ask for help again. But Ramadhani threatened her, saying she should stop bothering him or he would do something bad.

She also tried to speak to his boss at the bank, but nothing changed. Getrude said she has moved on and does not want Ramadhani back. She only wants him to be responsible for their children.

She said, “I’ve been through so much pain. The only strength I have now is to raise my children. I hope the authorities will help me because he keeps threatening me and taking me to the police.”

When Ayo TV spoke to Ramadhani, he denied everything. He said Getrude never paid for his university and claimed she didn’t even have a job back then. He also said he never saw any loan papers or proof that she helped him with school fees.
