Bobi Wine Wouldn’t Last 3 Months as President- Matembe

Prominent Ugandan lawyer Miria Matembe has expressed skepticism about the leadership abilities of National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi, widely known as Bobi Wine, ahead of the 2026 Presidential elections.

Matembe argued that reelecting President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni would better serve Uganda’s stability. She stated that Bobi Wine lacks the necessary strength and capacity to lead, predicting that his government, if elected, would be destabilized and overthrown within three months, potentially plunging the nation into chaos.

“It is better to reelect President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who can maintain Uganda’s stability than to elect Bobi Wine, whose government would be overthrown in less than three months, throwing the country into chaos,” Matembe stated.

Her statements come as Bobi Wine prepares to contest the 2026 elections as NUP’s potential flag bearer. Meanwhile, the opposition leader has demanded the immediate release of his bodyguard, Eddie Mutwe, who was reportedly abducted by soldiers from the Special Forces Command (SFC) in Mukono District and taken to an unknown location.
