A pregnant woman and another individual sustained serious injuries after an ambulance overturned in Lopeii Village, Napak District, on the morning of Sunday, May 11, 2025.
The ambulance, with registration number UAY 237Y and operated by Kotido General Hospital, was transporting the expectant mother to St. Kizito Hospital Matany when the driver reportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn.
Eyewitnesses at the scene described a chaotic moment before the crash, with the ambulance seen swaying on the road before it flipped. Locals quickly rushed to assist, helping to pull the victims from the wreckage.
District health officer Dr. Cerino Acar confirmed the incident and stated that the injured were promptly evacuated to Matany Hospital for treatment.
As of this report, the condition of the pregnant woman remains unknown. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
