A 75-year-old woman, Cotilda Namuddu, has been arrested following the murder of her 15-year-old granddaughter, Immaculate Nanziri, in Kawoko-Kiwenjula village, Bukomansimbi District. The arrest is based on suspicions that Namuddu may have been involved in or had knowledge of the crime.
According to police, Namuddu is currently assisting with the investigation as authorities work to determine the details surrounding Nanziri’s death. Evidence suggests that Namuddu may have witnessed or overheard part of the incident.
Initial reports indicate that Nanziri was fatally stabbed by unidentified attackers while in the bathroom. However, Namuddu’s claim that her granddaughter was killed while bathing raised suspicions when no blood was found in the bathroom. Investigators later discovered bloody clothes and curtains inside the house, leading to concerns that the crime scene may have been altered.
The village has been shaken by the brutal killing, with fears that it may have been a ritualistic act. Some locals recall previous alarming incidents involving Namuddu, including keeping her deceased husband’s body in the house for two days without notifying anyone.
The deceased’s mother, Hadijah Nabyoga, expressed her grief, stating she last saw her daughter on September 2, just before the tragedy. Two individuals, including Namuddu, have been arrested in connection with the murder.
