Soldier Commits Suicide Inside Barracks, Leaves Facebook Message Why He Did It

A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer, Corporal Wycliffe Kallem Mukhwana, ended his life inside the Barracks in Eldoret. He used an AK-47 rifle, shooting himself under the chin. The bullet passed through his head, killing him instantly.

At the time, he was in full military uniform. Military police were the first to respond before calling in local police to assist with the investigation.

Authorities are still trying to understand what led to his suicide. However, a Facebook post he made before his death suggests he had been struggling with frustrations at work.

He mentioned that his superiors had refused to approve his request for a pass and blocked him from getting a loan by not signing his paperwork.

His message has raised concerns about the pressures many officers face. His death adds to the rising cases of suicide among military personnel.

Many officers deal with stress due to their demanding jobs, and this incident has once again brought attention to their struggles.

Investigators are reviewing his post and other details to understand what pushed him to take his own life. His body was taken to a local mortuary, where a postmortem will be conducted.
