Catholics Displeased with Apostle Grace Lubega For Calling Worship of Mother Mary Idolatry

Catholics have taken to social media to express their disappointment with Phaneroo Ministries’ lead Pastor, Apostle Grace Lubega, over his comments about their way of worship. Lubega said that Catholics are wrong to honor religious images, calling it idolatry, which goes against God’s Ten Commandments.

The pastor explained that even though Mother Mary is in heaven, making and worshipping her images is not right. He also claimed that Bibles made under the Roman Empire contain mistakes, including leaving out the commandment that forbids making idols for worship. He said this commandment clearly states that people should not create anything that looks like something in heaven to worship it.

Lubega was surprised to find another version of the Bible that included this commandment, while the Bible used by the Roman Catholic Church did not. He believes this is a serious mistake that goes against God’s teachings.

After his video was shared on social media, many Catholics reacted with anger. They quickly criticized the pastor, saying that Born Again Christians act as if they are holier than others when they are just worshippers like everyone else.

One Catholic wrote on social media, “Why don’t they talk about Indians who worship cows? Every time, it’s Catholics being accused of worshipping idols. You people should leave us alone! If we go to hell, that’s our problem, not yours. You go to your heaven, and we won’t disturb you. After all, there’s no beer there!”

Another person added, “Why does it bother people so much that Catholics worship idols? Let people be! If someone wants to worship clay mixed with sand, why do you care? God gave us free will. If they go to hell, that’s their choice. Focus on yourself and go to heaven!”

A different Catholic on X (formerly Twitter) commented, “That Apostle guy needs to understand the difference between veneration and adoration in the Catholic Church. Otherwise, he will soon lose the little respect people from other religions had for him. He’s changing from Grace Lubega to Disgrace Lubega.”

For a long time, Born Again churches have disagreed with the Catholic Church about their ways of worship. Many Born Again pastors strongly criticize Catholic practices, calling them idolatry. The Catholic Church usually does not respond to these accusations, but there is ongoing tension between followers of both groups.
