Police have announced that the deadline for applications for enrolment into the force is March 21, 2025. Police are set to recruit 10,000 personnel.
In a formal update issued on Tuesday afternoon, the Police confirmed that the recruitment process is ongoing and provided details on eligibility criteria and application requirements.
To qualify for recruitment, applicants must be Ugandan citizens with a valid national ID or a confirmation of information on the register letter from NIRA.
They must have no criminal record, be physically and medically fit, and be prepared to undergo Police Basic Training.
In a press statement issued on the Police website, candidates should also be ready to work long hours, sometimes under difficult conditions, and must be willing to serve in any part of the country.
Additionally, applicants should possess good communication skills and must not be serving or former officers in other security forces.
Regarding education requirements, candidates must have obtained a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent in a single sitting not earlier than 2020.
They should have at least four credits, including either English language or mathematics, with a pass in the other subject under the traditional grading system.
Those graded under the competency-based system should have at least four “C” grades, including either English or mathematics and at least a “D” grade in the other subject.
Interested candidates must submit handwritten applications addressed to the Inspector General of Police.
The applications should be accompanied by photocopies of academic documents, a national ID, three recent passport-size photographs, an identity card or introductory letter from the previous school, and recommendation letters from LCI, LCIII, and the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) from their district of residence.
Applications should be delivered to the nearest Police District or Divisional Headquarters no later than Friday, March 21, 2025.
The police have warned that impersonation or submission of forged documents will lead to arrest and prosecution, while providing false information will result in disqualification.
Appointment to the Uganda Police Force will only be granted after successful completion of Police Basic Training.
Female candidates are encouraged to apply, and possession of a valid driving permit will be considered an added advantage. However, individuals with higher academic qualifications should not apply.
Police has emphasized that all stages of the recruitment process are completely free of charge, cautioning applicants against paying any money for services during the process.
For further details, candidates are advised to visit the nearest Police headquarters.
