July 24, 2025

Police in Nakasongola District have detained a man accused of a horrific murder. The suspect, John Isoke, a farmworker in Kyandigita Bujjumbura Village, Nabiswera Sub-county, Migyera Town Council, allegedly beheaded his 26-year-old colleague, Herbert Ameir, around midnight on Monday.

Authorities claim Isoke attempted to sell the victim’s head. Residents alerted the police, who quickly responded, visited the crime scene, and arrested Isoke.

This shocking incident coincides with a call from Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, urging citizens to support the police in combating crime nationwide.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), General Kainerugaba stated that the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) is actively addressing urban crime in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Region, Wakiso District, and Entebbe.

He emphasized that UPDF soldiers will be deployed to monitor the situation during the upcoming general elections, warning that anyone attempting to disrupt the process will face consequences. Additionally, the General announced that the UPDF has successfully captured Ituri Forest as part of an ongoing operation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

In a separate but related development, police in Rubanda District are investigating the murder of 55-year-old Dismus Niyonzima, also known as Sebuhinja, a resident of Habuhinga Village, Muko Sub-County. The incident took place on the night of July 21, 2025, at Kabaya Primary School in Ikamiro Parish. Authorities are working to uncover the circumstances surrounding this killing.
