Police in Kampala are investigating the mysterious death of a young South Sudanese woman identified as Victoria Dawa, who was found dead in her hotel room on Thursday.
According to reports, Victoria had travelled to Kampala about three weeks ago with a man from Eritrea. The two are said to have previously worked together in Bor, Jonglei State, before coming to Uganda.
Sources revealed that the man booked a hotel room for both of them but left about a week later without informing her. Victoria was later found dead in the same room under unclear circumstances.
Police said there were no signs of illness before her death, and investigations have started to find out what happened and to locate the Eritrean man who had been staying with her.
Authorities have appealed to anyone with useful information to come forward and help with the ongoing investigation.
