Love Triangle Turns Deadly as Student Killed in Machete Attack in Busunju over a Girl

A senior two student at Naggulu Seed School in Uganda has died after he was allegedly attacked by another student from a different school in a violence incident linked to a relationship dispute.

The victim, identified as Rajab Mulindwa, also known as Rajab Bukenya, was reportedly struck with a machete by a student of St. Francis SS Busunju, who accused him of being involved with his girlfriend.

According to preliminary reports, the suspect had been issuing threats to Rajab prior to the attack. The confrontation was allegedly triggered when the young woman at the center of the dispute visited Rajab at his rented room. She later left and went to meet the suspect, not knowing he had followed her to Rajab’s residence earlier.

The suspect is said to have confronted Rajab shortly afterward, leading to the fatal assault. He fled the scene before security officials arrived.

Police launched an investigation and a manhunt, eventually tracking down the suspect. He was arrested and is currently in custody awaiting trial.

The killing has devastated both families and shocked students at the two schools. Authorities and community leaders have since renewed calls for improved guidance for teenagers, strengthening conflict-resolution support, and addressing mental-health challenges among young people.

The case adds to growing concerns over violent incidents involving young people linked to relationships.
