Woman Calls Off Introduction Ceremony Because Boyfriend Doesn’t Spend on Her

A young woman has explained why she decided to cancel her introduction ceremony, saying months of feeling neglected by her fiancé pushed her to walk away from the relationship. The woman, identified online as Onyinye Chukwu, shared that although the decision was painful, it brought her unexpected comfort and strong support from her family.

Chukwu revealed that for nearly five months, she had been battling doubts about her engagement. In a video posted on TikTok, she said she was disappointed that her partner never made any financial effort toward the relationship, adding that his behaviour left her feeling unvalued and unsure about their future together.

As preparations for the introduction ceremony progressed, her concerns only grew. Early one morning, Chukwu called her mother to explain that she no longer wished to proceed. She expected resistance, but instead, her mother listened patiently and told her she would stand by her decision.

It was her father’s reaction, however, that gave her complete clarity. After hearing the full story, he reportedly told her that a man who cannot support his partner before marriage is unlikely to change afterward. Chukwu said he also expressed that he had never been fully confident about the match but chose to stay quiet out of respect for her choices.

Their reassurance, she said, eased the pressure she had been carrying and helped her feel confident that stepping back was the right choice. She added that she was grateful the introduction had not yet been announced publicly, which made the situation easier for her family to manage.

With her parents behind her, Chukwu’s next step is to inform her fiancé that she does not wish to continue with the marriage plans. She admitted she is nervous about the conversation, describing him as a very traditional man, and asked for prayers as she prepares to break the news.

Despite the emotional difficulty, Chukwu says she feels relieved and hopes her experience encourages other women to trust their instincts when something in a relationship does not feel right.

In a related story, another woman shared how she was left heartbroken after being stood up on her traditional wedding day. After months of preparation and completing the dowry process, her fiancé failed to show up. She later learned that he had paid bride price for her best friend, two months after abandoning their ceremony plans.
