Man Ambushed, Tortured, and Robbed on Busega Road; One Suspect Arrested

On December 12, 2024, a horrifying case of aggravated robbery unfolded on Busega Road, leaving a 30-year-old man severely traumatized.

The victim, Kafeero Emmanuel, a resident of Masanda zone in Kyengera Town Council, was ambushed by two assailants at around 3:00 PM while en route to Mityana.

Narrating his ordeal, Kafeero explained, “They came out of nowhere. Armed with a panga, knives, and a stick, they dragged me deep into a swamp where they tortured me mercilessly.”

The attackers stole his mobile phone, UGX 20,000 in cash, and 20 packets of yogurt, items Kafeero was carrying at the time.

The torment continued for hours, with Kafeero being held hostage in the swamp until around 9:00 PM when the suspects fled the scene, leaving him stranded and injured. Summoning courage, Kafeero sought help and reported the incident at Busega Police Station.

Police officers, with assistance from UPDF personnel, launched an immediate operation to apprehend the culprits. The swift action led to the arrest of one suspect, 19-year-old boda-boda rider Kizito Henry. His accomplice, however, managed to escape and remains at large.

“A case of aggravated robbery was registered, and we recovered several exhibits, including a panga, four new knives, and a metallic rod,” revealed an officer familiar with the case.

Kizito was taken into custody and is currently detained at Nateete Police Station. During the operation, one of the suspects sustained injuries and is now receiving treatment at Mulago Hospital under strict police guard.

As investigations continue, the police have reassured the public of their commitment to bringing all perpetrators to justice.
