Tension and anxiety have gripped local fruit vendor Night Ampulire following the mysterious disappearance of her pickup truck, a vehicle she relies on for her livelihood. Ampulire, who gained recognition for her dedicated fruit vending and received the pickup as a gift from MTN Uganda, reports that it has been missing for almost two weeks.
According to Ampulire, the trouble began when the pickup broke down in Entebbe. She was referred to a mechanic based in Kampala, who quoted 800,000 Ugandan shillings for the necessary repairs. Determined to get her vehicle back on the road, Ampulire used her savings to pay 700,000 shillings upfront.
However, after accepting the partial payment, the mechanic claimed he needed to test the vehicle to ensure the repairs were effective. Ampulire alleges that this was the last time she saw her pickup. Since then, neither the mechanic nor the truck has been located, and there has been no communication regarding its whereabouts.
The disappearance of the pickup has left Ampulire unable to carry out her usual business, threatening her primary source of income. Local authorities have been informed, though there has been no official statement regarding any developments in the investigation.
