Police in Mukono are investigating a tragic incident of suspected murder by poisoning and suicide in Ngandu village, Mukono Central. The deceased, identified as 42-year-old Wakabi James, is believed to have poisoned himself and his two young daughters—three-year-old Ainomugisha Abigail and two-year-old Sabano Danella—after his wife left him and took all her belongings.
On January 19, 2025, around 11:00 p.m., neighbors reportedly found Wakabi and his children vomiting and alerted the local leadership, which rushed them to Mukono General Hospital. They were pronounced dead on arrival.
Initial investigations reveal that the room where the incident occurred had a wooden door secured with two padlocks. Officers at the scene discovered vomit near the door, clothing stained with vomitus, and a colorless liquid in a flask suspected to be poison. The bodies were transferred to the Mukono General Hospital mortuary, where no external injuries were noted.
Authorities also recovered powder and a flask containing the suspected poison as part of the ongoing investigation, which aims to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
