Actor Gabriel Olds Arrested on 7 Felony Sexual Assault Charges

The Epoch Times

Some of his accusers said they met him online via dating apps.

Actor Gabriel Olds, known for his roles on hit television shows, including “Law & Order,” “Six Feet Under,” “Criminal Minds,” and “NCIS,” was arrested on Aug. 7 for allegations of violent sexual assault, the Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed.

The Los Angeles Superior Court issued a warrant for Olds’s arrest on July 19. This comes after the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office charged the 52-year-old with seven counts of sexual assault, per a press release published on the LAPD’s website.

According to the police department, an unnamed 41-year-old woman came forward on Jan. 19, 2023, alleging that Olds had sexually assaulted her in her Los Angeles home.

“Two additional adult victims later came forward and made similar reports dating back to 2013, describing consensual dating encounters that descended into violent sexual assault,” the news release stated.

In addition to the three reported cases of sexual assault, investigators have also identified two other women who lodged allegations of “lesser violent sexual conduct.”

The victims alleged that Olds, a graduate of Yale University, leveraged his Ivy League background and status in the entertainment industry to connect with them. Some of the women said they met Olds online via dating apps.

“Each victim reported that Olds lured them into a false sense of security during their initial encounters, then turned violent without seeking their consent,” writes the LAPD.

Olds, who was raised in New York, has a slew of acting credits dating back to the late ‘80s, per his IMDb webpage. After starring in the 1988 telefilm “14 Going on 30” and the 1993 comedy-drama “Calendar Girl,” the actor appeared in an episode of “Law & Order.”

The actor’s subsequent television roles include “Party of Five,” “Sisters,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “JAG,” “Tru Calling,” “Century City,” “Judging Amy,” “The Inside,” and “Numb3rs,” among others.

More recently, Olds appeared in a 2023 episode of “The Rookie: Feds,” starring in an episode of “FBI: International” the previous year. In 2021, the actor landed a part in the film “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” alongside actors Jessica Chastain, Andrew Garfield, and Cherry Jones.

As a result of Olds’s propensity for travel due to his work as an actor, detectives with the LAPD’s Operations-West Bureau’s Special Assault Section believe there may be more victims and are urging any additional victims and potential witnesses to come forward.

“We heard the same story again and again,” Detective Brent Hopkins, a Special Assault Section supervisor, said in a statement. “Mr. Olds started off charming, but then used brutal violence to carry out these rapes. Some of these survivors suffered in silence for years before finding the strength to speak up. Now that he’s off the streets, we want to make sure everyone has a chance to be heard.”

Olds is currently being held on $3.5 million bail.

The Epoch Times has contacted a representative for Olds, but a response was not received by publication time.
