Amolatar Police Officer Dies in a Road Crash

North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson SP Jimmy Patrick Okema

A police officer from Amolatar Central Police Station has died following a road accident on Tuesday evening, October 1, in Amolatar Town Council.

The officer, identified as Corporal David Anywar, 35, was struck by a motorcycle while returning to the station. The motorcycle, with registration number UGB 204A, was being ridden by a boda boda rider identified as Okot, 25, who was heading toward Namasale.

The accident occurred near Amolatar Health Center IV, where the rider knocked down Cpl Anywar, leaving him with severe injuries. Despite efforts to save him, Anywar was pronounced dead upon arrival at the health center.

Authorities attribute the crash to reckless riding and speeding by the boda boda rider. The motorcycle was recovered from the home of the area chairperson in Alemere Town Council and taken to the police for inspection. The rider remains hospitalized at the same health facility.

In a regional report, North Kyoga Police revealed that 45 accident cases were registered between May and July. Of these, 16 were fatal, 21 serious, and 8 minor.
