At Least 13 Dead, 46 Injured after Fuel Tanker Collides with Bus

A sombre mood has settled over Niakara town following a devastating accident on the Katiola-Niakara Highway that resulted in at least 13 fatalities.

The collision between a fuel tanker and a bus ignited a fierce fire, which the local fire department later extinguished.

According to the police, the accident was heightened by a freight truck parked without indicators, which narrowed the road, as a national accident monitoring platform reported.

According to Channels Television, Police Secours described the scene, noting that the crash “set off a fire of terrifying intensity,” which left “13 bodies charred” in the aftermath.

The Ivorian Press Agency (AIP) confirmed that among the injured, 19 children sustained injuries and were quickly transported to hospitals in the nearby cities of Katiola and Niakara.
