‘Bishop’ Charged with Defrauding UGX 390M Through Fake Grants & Jobs, Remanded

Siribaleka Aaron in Court

Earlier today, the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, in collaboration with the UPDF Criminal Investigations Directorate and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution, arraigned Siribaleka Aaron, also known as “Bishop,” at the Mbale Chief Magistrates Court.

Siribaleka, a leader of a Pentecostal church in Kampala and Chief Director of the Youth Vulnerable Children and Orphans Alliance Africa, faces charges of obtaining money by false pretenses.

The charges stem from allegations that between 2018 and 2019, Siribaleka defrauded individuals in the Bugisu region, collecting over UGX 390 million through his organization.

He reportedly used Child Development Centres (CDCs) to solicit funds from pastors, parents, and prospective businessmen, promising education grants, scholarships, jobs, and business capital—none of which materialized.

Siribaleka has been remanded until September 25, 2024.
