Bishop Emeritus Samuel Balagadde Ssekadde Dies

Bishop Emeritus of the Anglican Diocese of Namirembe, Samuel Balagadde Ssekadde, has passed away. He died at Kisubi Hospital on Tuesday night, at the age of 80.

The Namirembe Diocese Fathers Union and Namirembe Cathedral confirmed his passing. Ssekadde served as Bishop of Namirembe from 1994 to 2009.

The church has not yet disclosed the cause of his death, though it is understood that he was hospitalized following a brief illness.

Friends mentioned that Ssekadde was seen in Rushere-Nyabushozi yesterday, attending the funeral of the late Mrs. Norah Karakire. Before departing for Entebbe, he gave a heartfelt testimony about Karakire’s faith and her dedication to Christ, urging those present to remain in Christ, as we all eventually follow the path of the deceased.

Witnesses described Ssekadde as being in good health during the funeral, making his sudden passing a reminder of the transient nature of life. May his soul rest in peace.
