Bobi Wine Feeds Starving Makerere Students

The National Unity Platform (NUP) Principal, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, has mobilized food to feed the starving government-sponsored students of Makerere University.

Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine has today served over 300 students with a befitting meal and on top of that packed for them at least ten kilo grams of maize floor and rice for each student.

NUP Secretary General, David Lewis Lubongoya has shared the information including photos of Kyagulanyi and the students at the party headquarters located at Kavule in Kawempe.

“Following the public outcry by the starving Government Sponsored students at Makerere University, today we met over 300 of them at the @NUP_Ug Headquarters and shared food items with them to enable them mitigate their suffering. We also served them lunch. These students have gone several months without their living allowances, causing most of them to starve.” Bobi Wine posted on X.

“Now organized under ‘Makerere Hungry Students Association’, they narrated the problems they have had to endure, including some female students being forced to engage in indecent acts trying to survive.” He added.

The students’ plight came to light after Makerere-based Pentecostal Pastor Martin Ssempa shared the issue on his X handle, calling for a heating debate, sympathy and criticism from the public.
