Body of Missing Woman Recovered Days After Drowning in Lake Victoria with Husband

Authorities in Entebbe have recovered the body of Edith Mirembe, 23, who went missing after drowning in Lake Victoria on Wednesday. Mirembe and her husband, Jude Ssentongo, 42, drowned at Nkumba-Bukolwa Village in Katabi town council, Wakiso district.

Ssentongo’s body was retrieved on Thursday, while Mirembe’s was recovered on Friday after a search conducted by locals and security personnel.

The couple had reportedly gone to the lake on Wednesday evening but did not return, prompting concerns among locals who later organized a search. According to reports, the couple often visited the lake for swims, as Ssentongo was the caretaker of a water pond along the lake’s shores.

Locals also indicated that Ssentongo had plans to develop a beach in Nkumba.
