Entebbe Couple Drowns in Lake Victoria

Authorities in Entebbe are investigating a possible drowning involving a couple that went to Lake Victoria on Wednesday evening. Police have confirmed the recovery of 42-year-old Jude Ssentongo’s body near Nkumba Bukolwa village, Katabi Town Council, Wakiso District. His wife, Edith Mirembe, 23, remains missing.

The couple’s clothes were discovered along the lakeshore, sparking local concerns. The two had reportedly gone to the lake at around 8 p.m. but never returned, prompting residents to organize a search.

Ssentongo’s body was found in the lake, and efforts to locate Mirembe were ongoing at the time of this report. Authorities have taken Ssentongo’s body to Mulago National Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination.

The couple, well-known in their community, has left neighbors in shock. Ssentongo was a familiar face, while Mirembe had recently opened a grocery store in the area. Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
