In the recent NRM primaries for the Woman Member of Parliament seat in Kisoro District, Kabagyeni Rose secured victory in a competitive race. Under the supervision of NRM Electoral Commission Returning Officer, Dr. Tanga Odoi, the election results revealed Kabagyeni Rose as the top candidate, receiving 39,941 votes, which amounts to 47.7% of the total votes cast.
Akifeza Grace Ngabirano closely followed with 39,197 votes, capturing 46.8% of the vote share, while the remaining candidates garnered smaller percentages, emphasizing the strong support both Kabagyeni and Akifeza enjoyed among voters. Out of the total 83,692 votes cast, Kabagyeni’s win reflects significant support from her constituency.
Dr. Tanga Odoi, while announcing the results, congratulated all candidates on a well-conducted election. He praised the substantial voter turnout, which highlighted the high level of civic engagement and the confidence placed in the NRM’s democratic process.
With Kabagyeni Rose now holding the party’s ticket, the NRM is set to face off against other contenders in the upcoming parliamentary by-election. Kabagyeni’s supporters look forward to her potential representation, hoping for an agenda that will address women’s empowerment, youth engagement, and infrastructural development in Kisoro District.
