Frank Gashumba, the outspoken father of Ugandan TV personality and influencer Sheilah Gashumba, has shed light on his daughter’s source of income following her recent unveiling of a Range Rover Velar. The sleek rose gold SUV, adorned with personalised plates “Gash 00UG,” sparked widespread interest after Sheilah shared pictures of the new ride on social media, leading to questions about how she could afford such a luxury vehicle.
In a recent interview, Frank Gashumba addressed the speculation, pointing to Sheilah’s hard work and the financial rewards that come with her success as one of Uganda’s top media personalities.
“I challenge any media personality in Uganda who earns more than Sheilah to come out,” he declared.
Gashumba further explained that while many may perceive Sheilah’s frequent appearances in bars and events as spending sprees, she is, in fact, earning money through these engagements.
“At every event you see her, there is a percentage of what she is taking home,” Gashumba noted.
“The places where you are out with her dancing and spending, she is there to make money.”
Even at the very event where she unveiled her car, he said, Sheilah managed to sell out the venue, securing a hefty income in the process.
Top influencer
Sheilah’s role as an influencer also contributes significantly to her earnings.
According to her father, she charges between UGX 5 million and UGX 10 million for simply sitting in a restaurant as an influencer.
“Her brand is the biggest among influencers in the country,” Gashumba added, further underscoring the power of social media in transforming her into one of Uganda’s most sought-after figures.
Despite the fanfare surrounding the Range Rover, Frank Gashumba downplayed the magnitude of the achievement, stating that while he is proud of his daughter, he did not attend the unveiling.
“If she had purchased a private jet, perhaps I would have gone,” he remarked, recalling that he bought his first car at 22 years old and does not consider the purchase of a luxury vehicle to be an extraordinary accomplishment.
