ICT Ministry Speaks Out on Vehicle Procurement Deal - UG Standard

Dr. Aminah Zawedde is the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance

KAMPALA, UGANDA – The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance has dismissed allegations of non-transparency in its handling of Non-Tax Revenue (NTR) funds, saying the Finance Ministry approved its request to utilize the funds earlier this year.

In a statement released on August 5, 2024, the ICT Ministry set the record straight, stating that the Finance Ministry granted approval for the use of the funds in execution of its activities.

The ministry expressed concern over “malicious online media reports” and reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and efficient resource management.

“We uphold these standards to ensure that all expenditures are managed prudently,” the statement added.

The ministry urged media stakeholders to refrain from defamatory attacks on its officials and encouraged constructive dialogue.

“The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance remains open to sharing information with the public and media, in line with our commitment to open government principles,” the statement concluded.
