Isaac Ssemakadde Elected President of Uganda Law Society

Counsel Isaac Ssemakadde, also known as the “Legal Rebel,” has been elected as the new President of the Uganda Law Society.

In a highly contested election that took place at Speke Resort Munyonyo, Ssemakadde received 3,021 votes, defeating Isaac Atukunda, who garnered 2,101 votes.

Ssemakadde now replaces Bernard Oundo, who has served as president since 2022.

The Uganda Law Society is the association for lawyers in Uganda, providing professional services, resources, support, and benefits to its members while engaging in activities designed to improve access to justice.

The ULS also promotes members’ professional development and ethical conduct, advocates for access to justice for indigent, marginalized, and vulnerable persons, and contributes to upholding and promoting the rule of law in Uganda.
