Kagadi Man Burned to Death After Fight Over Barmaid

A 22-year-old man was killed and his body burned in Kagadi district following a violent altercation over a barmaid. The victim, identified as Peter Matovu from Kyabahuuba village in Kiziramfumbi subcounty, Kikuube district, lost his life in Rwenjobe village, Paachwa subcounty, on Sunday, September 1, 2024.

During the incident, Matovu’s brother, Fred Kaahwa, 32, was also severely attacked by unidentified individuals and is currently receiving treatment at a clinic.

The altercation stemmed from a dispute over a woman, according to local authorities. The two brothers had been residing in Nasuti village, Pachwa Sub County, in pursuit of women.

Community leaders have condemned the incident, calling on the youth to focus on more constructive activities. The father of the deceased, Nyakoojo Balthazar, has urged the police to expedite their investigation and bring those responsible to justice.

Police responded to the scene, recovered Matovu’s body, and transported it to Kagadi Hospital for a post-mortem examination. As of now, no arrests have been made, and attempts to reach the Albertine Regional Police Spokesperson for comment were unsuccessful.
