Kenya to Face Cameroon at Namboole Stadium Behind Closed Doors Over Fears of Ugandan Support for Onana

Kenya will host André Onana’s Cameroon at Namboole on Monday, October 14, 2024, in the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers. However, the Kenya Football Federation has confirmed that the match will be played behind closed doors.

Reports from Kenya indicate concerns that Ugandan fans may support Cameroon over Kenya due to the presence of Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana.

Earlier this month, when Cameroon faced Zimbabwe in an “away” fixture at Namboole Stadium, Ugandan Manchester United fans created a party-like atmosphere supporting Onana, who was the main attraction.

Supporters wearing Manchester United kits were seen jumping, cheering, and waving Red Devils flags, doing their best to make Onana feel welcome throughout the match. Even after the game concluded and Onana was leaving the stadium with his team, there was a commotion among fans.
