KISORO AGAIN: Couple Arrested Enjoying Sex at Kisoro Catholic Church

Police in Kisoro have detained a married couple found engaging in a sexual act inside the restroom at St. Peter’s Catholic Parish in Kisoro town on Thursday morning. The arrest was confirmed by Community Liaison Officer Boaz Arinaitwe, who stated that appropriate charges will follow once investigations conclude.

The couple, residents of Gasheregenyi, Kanaba Sub County, claimed that a self-described prophetess from Kabale District advised them to perform the act as a ritual to cleanse themselves from a supposed bad omen. The husband reported receiving a message from the prophetess, who alleged that their family had been cursed and needed prayers for deliverance.

According to the couple, the prophetess instructed them to read a passage from Leviticus (15:25-29) and then to visit Gisoro Parish for a cleansing ritual. They explained that upon reaching the parish, they were directed by the prophetess over the phone to enter the restroom and engage in intimacy as part of the ritual.

Catechist Sendegeya Vicent voiced his shock and disapproval of the incident, stating that such behavior is unprecedented at the parish. Kisoro Assistant Resident District Commissioner Valence Hagumimana also condemned the act, urging religious leaders to promote public awareness and moral guidance to prevent similar occurrences.

This incident echoes a previous case from November 2021, when a couple received a 30-month prison sentence for engaging in public intimacy on the Kisoro-Bunagana highway. Public reaction to the recent incident has been one of outrage, with calls for strict measures against those involved.K

Ugandans much as ur desperate for situations ur going through, don’t do everything told to you minus thinking first. God blessed us with knowledge to reason situations. I request government to come up and hunt those illegal churches and thugs who hide in the name of God to mislead citizens, commit crimes and still call themselves chosen ones.
