Luweero Woman Killed in Machete Attack

Police in Luwero District are investigating the killing of Margret Nakiyingi, a 50-year-old woman, who was attacked at her home in Wampamba Zone, Wobulenzi Town Council, on Wednesday, 18th.

The incident reportedly occurred around 8:20 p.m., where an unidentified assailant assaulted Nakiyingi at the entrance to her home, using a machete to inflict a fatal neck wound that nearly resulted in decapitation.

Nakiyingi, who lived alone, was found outside her doorway by neighbors who responded to an alarm. They discovered her in a pool of blood, with severe injuries.

Investigations suggest that the attack may be linked to an ongoing land dispute involving her family, potentially leading to this fatal encounter.

Police arrived on the scene but faced challenges as evidence had already been tampered with by locals. A sniffer dog brought in for assistance could not follow a trail, but law enforcement managed to recover a machete believed to have been used in the attack.

Authorities have initiated a manhunt for the suspect, who remains at large. Nakiyingi’s body has been transported to Luwero Hospital for a postmortem as investigations continue.
