Man Beheads Wife, Killed by Angry Mob in Escape Attempt in Kampala

Police in Kampala are investigating a double murder in which a man who beheaded his wife was killed by a mob.

The incident occurred on Monday morning in Jjuuko zone, Makindye division, when a man identified as Kkonde beheaded his 19-year-old wife, Sharon Rukundo. The couple had been in a relationship for two years and had a child together. Recently, however, misunderstandings led Rukundo to leave and live with her aunt.

Rukundo had begun working at her aunt’s restaurant, and on Monday morning, Kkonde reportedly made a threatening call, suggesting harm would come to both families. Later, he attacked and killed Rukundo with a panga. As Kkonde tried to escape, he was caught and lynched by a mob.

Both bodies have been taken to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem as investigations continue.

Police have cautioned the public against taking matters into their own hands when dealing with domestic issues, urging people to seek mediation in case of conflicts.
