Police in Kampala have initiated an investigation into the death of a man during overnight prayers at a church in Wakiso District.
The deceased, identified as Cyrus Sengiyunva, a 49-year-old businessman from Kalangala District, was found dead inside Crusader Church, located in Masajja A cell, Masajja Division, Ssabagabo Municipality. Sengiyunva had attended overnight prayers but was discovered unresponsive the next morning as congregants were preparing to leave.
His friends immediately notified the church management, who contacted the police. The authorities conducted a preliminary examination at the scene before transporting the body to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem.
Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed that eyewitness statements have been recorded to assist in the ongoing investigation.
