Police in Kibaale District are investigating the murder of God Ssekasi, a carpenter with GMH Carpentry, whose body was discovered in a corridor in Karuguza Town, Kibaale Town Council. Preliminary findings suggest the murder may have been connected to allegations of his involvement with a married woman.
Authorities report that Ssekasi, a resident of Lwebyayi in Mubende District, had previously been warned about the alleged affair but continued working in Karuguza despite the claims.
The incident has sparked concerns about the rising crime rate in Kibaale Town Council. Local leaders have called for stronger community collaboration with law enforcement to address issues such as killings related to personal disputes, land conflicts, and robberies.
Police investigators from Kibaale Central Police Station cordoned off the scene and transported the body to Kibaale Health Centre IV for a postmortem. The Criminal Investigations Department confirmed that inquiries are ongoing, although no arrests have been made and the identity of the woman alleged to be involved has not been verified.
Local leaders, including area Member of Parliament Dr. Emily Kugonza, have highlighted the need for public education on resolving conflicts lawfully, condemning the increasing cases of mob justice in the region.
