Mathias Mpuuga Says He Wanted to Become a Catholic Priest

Mathias Mpuuga, Uganda’s Leader of Opposition in Parliament, recently revealed that he once dreamed of becoming a Catholic priest. Growing up in a predominantly Catholic community, he was strongly influenced by his regular interactions with local priests, which initially inspired his desire to attend seminary and join the priesthood.

Now a prominent political leader, Mpuuga advocates for human rights, justice, and democratic reforms in Uganda. His journey from aspiring priesthood to political leadership illustrates a significant shift in his life path, reflecting a deep commitment to service and community.

While he ultimately chose a different calling, Mpuuga’s dedication to service remains central to his career. His story resonates with many Ugandans, especially those with similar faith-based, community-oriented upbringings.
