Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the case of Joyce Nankabirwa, a mother of three, who allegedly dumped her newborn baby in a toilet in Katikolo Village, Mukono District. The incident took place on September 10 at around 2 a.m.
Nankabirwa reportedly informed her aunt, Annet Bukirwa, in the morning that she had accidentally dropped something in the toilet after experiencing complications during the night. Concerned, one of the relatives accompanied her to check the toilet.
Upon inspection with a torch, they discovered a newborn baby inside the toilet. Locals were immediately alerted, and the police were called to the scene.
After nearly six hours of efforts, the police retrieved the baby, who was already dead with a severe head wound. Nankabirwa was arrested, and the baby’s body was taken to the hospital for a postmortem examination.
