President Museveni has appointed Kiwanda as the National Chairman of the Consultative Forum, a constitutional body uniting all political parties with parliamentary representation. This position was formerly held by Dr. Ruhakana Rugundo.
In this role, Kiwanda’s main responsibility will be to promote harmony among political parties, a key step in fostering national unity and cooperation. His appointment is viewed as an effort to advance inter-party dialogue and collaboration.
Kiwanda will be supported by a deputy from the National Unity Platform (NUP), reflecting a commitment to inclusivity and partnership across party lines. The appointment was finalized during the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting at Entebbe State House on October 31, 2024.
As the new National Chairman, Kiwanda will be instrumental in advancing dialogue and understanding among political parties, contributing to Uganda’s democratic progress. This move is regarded as a step forward in strengthening the country’s democratic institutions and promoting national cohesion.
