Museveni Vows to Crash Moneylenders

President Museveni has vowed to take action against moneylenders, accusing them of using fraudulent agreements to confiscate people’s assets.

The remarks were made during the official commissioning of the Karuma Hydropower Plant in Kiryandongo District on Thursday. Museveni criticized moneylenders for exploiting individuals by manipulating agreements that disguise loans as asset sales, warning that his government would step in to protect the public.

He also instructed the Ministry of Energy to address Uganda’s low per capita electricity consumption, which currently stands at 218 kWh, far below the levels of developed nations, where per capita consumption exceeds 20,000 kWh.
